Macau Holidays

Macau Overview

Situated in Eastern Asia, 37 miles southwest of Hong Kong, is the subtropical peninsula of Macau. Originally an island, an isthmus was formed when connecting land, now called Cotai, was reclaimed from the sea. It connected the islands of Coloane and Taipa and transformed the island into a peninsula. On the east of Macau is the Zhujiang (Pearl River) Estuary. Lying to the west is the Zijiang (West River). The Portas do Cerco (Barrier Gate) crosses into mainland China's Zhuhai Special Economic Zone. The wonderfully moderate temperatures are prized by residents and tourists alike. A thriving tourist industry sustains the economy. The people are very friendly and are, understandably, enthusiastic about Macau. It offers the best of all worlds.

Macau Hotels

Macau hotels accommodation vary wonderfully. Taipa has much to offer for those seeking a luxurious place to stay. Coloane is known for its quieter lodgings, but has some 5-star masterpieces, too. Cotai, has accommodations with tremendous gambling facilities. Most hotels have air conditioning. Rates on Friday and Saturday are about 20% higher than weeknights and the hotels may be full. That is because there is an influx of Hong Kong tourists enjoying Macau's casinos.
