After breakfast we will have a great combination of the Mayan history at Tulum, the only archaeological zone in the area with views of the sea, and the natural beauty of the Xel-Ha inlet, a natural aquarium ideal for snorkeling. Tulum flourished in late Post-classical times with buildings dating back to the 12th century. Breakfast. Today we will pick you up early in the morning and drive 1.5 hrs southeast of the city of Merida to the ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza. The name of Chichen Itza comes from the Mayan words: Chi (Mouth), Chen (hole or well) and Itza (Itza people). All together, these Mayan words means 'At the mouth of the Well of the Itza people'. The visit will be leaded by an expert and knowledgeable guide, who will explain in detail about the beautiful architecture of the buildings and the way of living of the Mayan people. Explore the main buildings of this ceremonial city standing as the masterpiece the Pyramid of Kukulkan, the largest and most important ceremonial building in the ancient city. Walk over a 'Sac beh' or white path used for ceremonial purposes to get to the Sacred Cenote, used for the worship of Chaac, the Mayan god of rain. This cenote was also considered by the Mayans as an entrance to the underworld. In Chichen Itza you will also visit the Temple of the Thousand Columns, The Observatory, The Ball Court, other not at all less important buildings. Then and after a long walk through the majestic Mayan city and new wonder of the world, you will enjoy a delicious Yucatecan food. After lunch we will transfer you to Cancun. The ruins of Tulum are perched high atop a cliff, against the awe inspiring backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. This archaeological site is a one of a kind. Tulum flourished in late Post-classical times with buildings dating back to the 12th century. It was once an important trading port, one of the few Mayan cities still inhabited when the Spaniards arrived. You will take a guided tour of the ruins to learn about the secrets of the Mayans. Your guide will point out important sites, explaining the historical significance of buildings such as the Castle, the Temple of the Masks and the God Chaac. Then we will drive 20 minutes back toward Cancun, to the incredible natural aquatic theme park created by the Mayan gods themselves: Xel-Ha. This special place gathers the best of the Mexican Caribbean all in one place. Enjoy nature through the crystal clear waters of this spectacular natural aquarium. An environment of creeks, lagoons, natural wells and ancient caves is fed by underground rivers flowing out to the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Explore the underwater world by snorkel to come face to face with exotic underwater flora and fauna such as curious rays and French Angel fish. Day 1 - Mexico

Day 2 - Mexico

Breakfast. You will be transferred in a scenic passing, through the front of some facades of beautiful historical downtown buildings, such as the Palace of Fine Arts, the House of tile, arriving to the heart of Mexico, with his majestic Arms Square 'El Zocalo'. You will be entered the National Palace to admire the macro mural of Diego Rivera in the main staircase a veritable compendium of the history of Mexico, from the particular point of view of the great Mexican painter. We sill be acceded by the Metropolitan Cathedral the largest in Latin America, home to the Archdiocese of Mexico, crossing its Ships and Altars. We are leaving to continue to make a panoramic tour of other beautiful facades of buildings architectural expression. Arriving to a craft gallery where you can buy a souvenir. You will be transited by the most cosmopolitan boulevard, Reforma Bolulevard, which was designed by the Emperor Maximilian, inspired in the Parisian model of the Champs Elysees, which allows for important buildings and monuments. We arrived to the Chapultepec area forest, to access to the world-renowned National Anthropology Museum, where they will complete a comprehensive view of the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan and its glory with the visit and the Aztec room. Afterwards we will return to your hotel around 14 30 hrs.

Day 3 - Mexico

After breakfast, departure to visit two impressive ceremonial centers, Teotihuacan (Prehispanic) and the Shrine of Guadalupe (contemporary), witch outline the majority religious development of the Mexican people. We will begin visiting the pre-Hispanic archaeological site of Tlatelolco, or also know as the 'Plaza de las Tres Culturas' with its colonial church of Santiago. We will continue to Teotihuacan 'the city of the Gods', according with the Aztec myth, with more than 2,500 years of History. This place had a vital development, based on the Uses of the natural fiber textiles and obsidian tools and raw materials exchange. This will be explained in detail in a crafts center and you will have the chance to buy a souvenir alluding to this visit. You will be enter to the enigmatic archaeological site, visiting the temples of 'Quetlzalpapalotl' (bird - butterfly) and the 'Feathered Shells' and the whole Pyramid of the Moon. Finally ending with the impressive Pyramid of the Sun. You will be guided into a local restaurant for your take your lunch (not included). Day 5 - Merida

After breakfast, full day tour to visit Uxmal and Kabah archeological areas. First we will visit Uxmal ruins, one of the most popular ancient mayan cities. 'Uxmal' in maya means 'three times built'. Here the guide will explain in depth the Puuc architect style of buildings such as the Nun's Quadrangle, the Ball court, the Turtle House and the Governor Palace. This Puuc style stand as a highly decorative and detailed one. It own its name to the Puuc hills located in the region. The Governor Palace is the most famous structure in Uxmal because it is the best example of the Puuc Style. It had been renowed as the most beautiful building in Mesoamerica. After our Uxmal tour you will explore the archeological site of Kabah, Mayan name wich means 'lord of a strong hand'. Kabah is linked to Uxmal by a 'sacbeh' or white road used for ceremonial purposes. Kabah is one of the stops of the Puuc Route and here you can find many structures with carved masks of the God Chaac, the important god of rain for the Mayans. Day 4 - Chichen Itza

Begin your day with breakfast at your hotel. Then, a private guided tour of the site begins at the Great Plaza, the heart of Chichen Itza. Visiting the Ball Game Court, the Temple of the Jaguars, the famous Temple (pyramid) of God KuKulcan, the Tzompantli Platform, the Temple of the Warriors or Temple of The One Thousand Columns. Then you will visit the Sacred Cenote, the Mayan Observatory and the set of buildings constructed during the Classic Maya Period, The Nunnery, La Iglesia and Akab Dzib. Lunch will be served at Mayaland Hotel. Enjoy the afternoon relaxing by the pool or taking an additional horseback riding tour. You can also stroll through our beautiful gardens and watch the birds. Day 5 - Chichen Itza

After breakfast, we will depart to the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula via the magnificent site of Ek Balam to Rio Lagartos on the Mexican Gulf coast. Ek Balam is one of the most mysterious cities ever discovered. Its main temple features a Jaw of jaguar with delicate stucco relieve and feathered sculptures. At arriving to Rio Lagartos, we will take a wonderful boat ride through the mangroves to visit the feeding ground of the beautiful pink flamingoes. A box lunch will be provided. Return to the hotel for a late afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel. (B/L)

Day 6 - Uxmal

After breakfast, we will depart to Merida calling at the colonial city of Izamal on the way, where we will visit the Convent of San Francisco de Padua, the central park, the regional market and the pyramid of Kinich Kakmo located downtown. Upon arrival in Merida, we will take a walking tour of the city center visiting the Zocalo or Main Square, site of the stately Cathedral; the Casa de Montejo, a 16th century home of Don Francisco de Montejo, the founder of the city; the City Hall and palace of the State Government. We will take a walking tour of the city market for authentic arts and crafts. Lunch is served at a typical Mexican restaurant where you will taste a sample of authentic local cuisine and listen to the serenades of strolling trovadores. We continue our walking tour to the church of Tercera Orden, a beautiful 17th century monastery; the Peon Contreras Theater and the University of Yucatan. We will then board a traditional horsedrawn carriage or Calesa for a ride to Paseo de Montejo and a visit to the Regional Museum of Anthropology and History. At the end of this visit, a deluxe vehicle tour around the Monument to the Nation and past the 19th century mansions on Paseo de Montejo and Avenida Colon concludes our city tour. Day 7 - Uxmal

Breakfast at The Lodge at Uxmal or Hacienda Uxmal Hotel. We will walk to the temples at Uxmal for a guided tour that includes the oval-shaped Magician's Pyramid; the Nun's Quadrangle with its magnificent friezes depicting the Mayan Rain God; the magnificent Palace of the Governor and the impressive Great Pyramid. Free afternoon for relaxing at the hotel where you can swim in our beautiful sparkling swimming pools or enjoy our spa. In the evening you are invited to attend the Uxmal light and sound show, staged nightly in the Nun's Quadrangle, Uxmal's central plaza. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. We will take you to the village of Becal, famous for the Panama hats made by artisans who work in caves to preserve the quality of the palm fronds. Afterwards we shall proceed to the city of Campeche once a fortified Pirate haven. Here one of the United Nations World Heritage Sites, as are Chichen Itza and Uxmal. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch at a local restaurant. We will do a walking city tour and visit a number of small museums and places of interest in this, Dinner and overnight at Hacienda Uxmal Hotel or The Lodge at Uxmal. (B/L/D)

Day 9 - Uxmal

Depart from Uxmal after breakfast. First stop is Kabah where you will see the Codz Pop, a palace famous for its facade of 250 Chaac masks and statues of ancient rulers of the site; the Palace and the Arch of Kabah which marks the entrance to the Sacbe or linking path between Kabah and Uxmal. We will then visit Sayil, a very unique site in the land of the Maya for its gracious three-tiered palace: a labyrinth of 70 rooms adorned with columns and beautifully Chaac masks carved in stone. Labna is a lovely classical Puuc Maya village that among its temples of note we find The Palace and The Mirador. Minutes away are the town of Ticul, where the living Maya will show us the makings of their pottery and reproductions of ancient Mayan figurines. A box lunch will be provided along the way to the caves of Loltun, natural masterpieces with pre-Maya engravings dating back over four thousand years as well as interesting geological formations and markings of The Yucatan Peninsula's resurgence from the sea in the Quaternary Era. Next to Loltun is the city of Tekax. We will visit a 17th century convent and fortress like chapel that is a silent testimony to Yucatan's turbulent past: Maya revolts against Spanish rule that resulted in the war of castes. Lunch will be served at Mayaland Hotel. Enjoy the afternoon relaxing by the pool or taking an additional horseback riding tour. You can also stroll through our beautiful gardens and watch the birds. The Yucatan boasts more species than the United States and Canada combined.
If you are staying at the Hotel Chichen Itza you will be driven back to your hotel. In the evening we will attend the light and sound show staged nightly at the archaeological park. A play of light on the ancient buildings and tales of warlike rulers, priests and Mayan Gods weave their spell. You will leave Chichen Itza enchanted. Dinner will be served at the Mayaland Hotel El Mural dining room and terrace.(B/L/D)

Day 5 - Chichen Itza

After breakfast, we will depart to the northern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula via the magnificent site of Ek Balam to Rio Lagartos on the Mexican Gulf coast. Ek Balam is one of the most mysterious cities ever discovered. Its main temple features a Jaw of jaguar with delicate stucco relieve and feathered sculptures. At arriving to Rio Lagartos, we will take a wonderful boat ride through the mangroves to visit the feeding ground of the beautiful pink flamingoes. A box lunch will be provided. Return to the hotel for a late afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel. (B/L)

Day 6 - Uxmal

After breakfast, we will depart to Merida calling at the colonial city of Izamal on the way, where we will visit the Convent of San Francisco de Padua, the central park, the regional market and the pyramid of Kinich Kakmo located downtown. Upon arrival in Merida, we will take a walking tour of the city center visiting the Zocalo or Main Square, site of the stately Cathedral; the Casa de Montejo, a 16th century home of Don Francisco de Montejo, the founder of the city; the City Hall and palace of the State Government. We will take a walking tour of the city market for authentic arts and crafts. Lunch is served at a typical Mexican restaurant where you will taste a sample of authentic local cuisine and listen to the serenades of strolling trovadores. We continue our walking tour to the church of Tercera Orden, a beautiful 17th century monastery; the Peon Contreras Theater and the University of Yucatan. We will then board a traditional horsedrawn carriage or Calesa for a ride to Paseo de Montejo and a visit to the Regional Museum of Anthropology and History. At the end of this visit, a deluxe vehicle tour around the Monument to the Nation and past the 19th century mansions on Paseo de Montejo and Avenida Colon concludes our city tour. We continue to Uxmal. Dinner at the Hacienda Uxmal Hotel or The Lodge at Uxmal. Overnight at the hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 7 - Uxmal

Breakfast at The Lodge at Uxmal or Hacienda Uxmal Hotel. We will walk to the temples at Uxmal for a guided tour that includes the oval-shaped Magician's Pyramid; the Nun's Quadrangle with its magnificent friezes depicting the Mayan Rain God; the magnificent Palace of the Governor and the impressive Great Pyramid. Free afternoon for relaxing at the hotel where you can swim in our beautiful sparkling swimming pools or enjoy our spa. In the evening you are invited to attend the Uxmal light and sound show, staged nightly in the Nun's Quadrangle, Uxmal's central plaza. The music, dialogue and illumination take place in a magnificent setting and the event is an unforgettable introduction to the history and legends of the ancient city and the magnificent Puuc Mayan culture. When inaugurated in 1975, this sound and light spectacle was acclaimed to be the finest in the world. Dinner and overnight at The Lodge at Uxmal or Hacienda Uxmal Hotel. (B/D)

Day 8 - Uxmal

Breakfast will be served at the hotel. We will take you to the village of Becal, famous for the Panama hats made by artisans who work in caves to preserve the quality of the palm fronds. Afterwards we shall proceed to the city of Campeche once a fortified Pirate haven. Here one of the United Nations World Heritage Sites, as are Chichen Itza and Uxmal. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch at a local restaurant. We will do a walking city tour and visit a number of small museums and places of interest in this, Dinner and overnight at Hacienda Uxmal Hotel or The Lodge at Uxmal. (B/L/D)

Day 9 - Uxmal

Depart from Uxmal after breakfast. First stop is Kabah where you will see the Codz Pop, a palace famous for its facade of 250 Chaac masks and statues of ancient rulers of the site; the Palace and the Arch of Kabah which marks the entrance to the Sacbe or linking path between Kabah and Uxmal. We will then visit Sayil, a very unique site in the land of the Maya for its gracious three-tiered palace: a labyrinth of 70 rooms adorned with columns and beautifully Chaac masks carved in stone. Labna is a lovely classical Puuc Maya village that among its temples of note we find The Palace and The Mirador. Minutes away are the town of Ticul, where the living Maya will show us the makings of their pottery and reproductions of ancient Mayan figurines. A box lunch will be provided along the way to the caves of Loltun, natural masterpieces with pre-Maya engravings dating back over four thousand years as well as interesting geological formations and markings of The Yucatan Peninsula's resurgence from the sea in the Quaternary Era. Next to Loltun is the city of Tekax. We will visit a 17th century convent and fortress like chapel that is a silent testimony to Yucatan's turbulent past: Maya revolts against Spanish rule that resulted in the war of castes. Dinner and overnight at the Hacienda Uxmal or The Lodge at Uxmal. (B/L/D)

Day 10 - Uxmal

After breakfast we will depart to the archaeological site of Tulum located in the Caribbean Coast. After a brief visit, your deluxe van will take you to the hotel of your choice in Cancun or to the airport. (B)
