Day 1 - Chamonix

On arrival at Geneva (Switzerland), you will be welcomed by your local representative and transferred to your hotel in Chamonix.
The French Alpine town of Chamonix is nestled at the crossroads of France, Italy and Switzerland and located at the foothill of the Mont Blanc. Chamonix is probably best known as the skiing and alpine capital of the world. As a destination it has a reputation for the extreme and this, whilst undoubtedly true, can mask a wide array of sporting and leisure activities (particularly in summer), a great nightlife, and superb scenery that can be enjoyed at whichever pace suits you.

The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the immeasurable beauty of the Mont Blanc. Discover the lively streets of Chamonix which are a colourful mix of sport shops, guide offices, restaurants, bars and cafes.

 

Day 2 - Chamonix

Visit Aiguille Du Midi & Montenvers (on your own).

For more than 50 years, the most famous and highest of the Aiguilles de Chamonix has been an essential world attraction. From the centre of Chamonix, a 20 minutes ride in the Aiguille du Midi cable car takes you to the gateway to the high Alps at a height of 3,842 m. From its height of 3,777m, the Aiguille du Midi and its laid-out terraces offer a 360° view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A lift brings you to the summit terrace at 3,842m, where you will have a clear view of Mont Blanc. Once at the top, do not miss the gondola lift ride over the Glacier du Geant to the Pointe Helbronner in Italy.

Later, visit Montenvers, the rack railway starts from Chamonix and, in 25 minutes, climbs to an altitude of 1913 metres where it reaches the bottom of the Mer de Glace, France's largest glacier (7km long, 200 m thick). The tour of the "Grotte de Glace" (Ice Cave) takes you into the very heart of the glacier. Re-sculpted every year, it describes the life of mountain people in the early 19th century. It can be entered either by a walk of around 20 minutes on a footpath, or by gondola lift.

Day 3 - Annecy

In the afternoon, transfer to the train station for your train to Lake Annecy.

Travel from Chamonix to Annecy by train. Lake Annecy, the jewel of the Savoy Alps is also called the Alpine Venetia for its canals crossing the historic town. Discover this beautiful town - your passport for health and vitality as well as serenity and relaxation.

On arrival in the romantic town of Lake Annecy, transfer to the hotel.

This morning is at leisure for independent activities.

 

Day 4 - Annecy

Stroll around the colourful, paved streets of Annecy's Old Town, discovering castles and museums or indulge in a wide range of activities from cycling to paragliding, sailing to skiing, there's so much to choose from...even if you choose to do nothing!

Day 5 - Paris

This morning, transfer to the train station.

Travel from Annecy to Paris by high-speed TGV train.

On arrival at Paris, proceed to your hotel.

Day 6 - Paris

Enjoy Paris Seinorama tour (Seat in Coach).

In the morning, discover the historical landmarks and admire the beautiful architecture of Paris on a Seinorama Tour. See the Place de la Concorde, Avenue Champs-Elysees and Arc de Triomphe. Cruise on the beautiful River Seine and admire the architecture of the historical monuments and cafe lined boulevards. Enjoy a visit to the 2nd level of the imposing Eiffel Tower for a fabulous overview of the city.

 (Note: During high season months entrance to Eiffel Tower will be replaced with Montparnasse Tower).

Day 1 - Zurich

Welcome to your 'Cox & Kings European Rhapsody' tour. Your Cox & Kings representative greets you at the 'meeting point' at the exit after immigration and customs and transfers you comfortably to your hotel (check-in after 1600 hrs). Cox & Kings starts your sightseeing only the next day so that you can relax after your long flight and get over your jetlag. Overnight in Zurich. Dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 2 - Axams

Today proceed for a short orientation tour of Zurich strolling down Bahnhofstrasse - the city's fanciest shopping street, past famous sights like Peterskirche (St. Peter's Church) situated in a medieval square, famous for its 16th Century clock, the largest clock face in Europe. The elegant copper spire of the Fraumunster found in the 9th Century with impressive stained glass windows. Across the Limmat River, you will get a view of the Grossmunster - a beautiful Romanesque and Gothic Cathedral dedicated to Zurich's patron saints. Later your drive takes you to picture perfect Austria, enroute, pause at the principality of Liechtenstein and stop at Vaduz - the capital, to enjoy a short orientation. Vaduz is famous for its postage stamps. Next halt at the internationally renowned Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, and prepare to be dazzled at the 'Chambers of Wonder'! In a wondrous blue hall dominated by a Unicum- a wall of crystal, you see the world's biggest crystal and it's smallest! Over 7 million people from all corners of the globe, have already been thrilled by the Swarovski experience - now you are one of them! Continue a scenic drive to Innsbruck. Located on the Inn River, Innsbruck is one of Europe's most beautiful and lively cities. An international centre for winter sports, it has hosted the Winter Olympics twice! Our orientation tour introduces you to its world famous sights. View the Golden Roof or 'Goldenes Dachl', an ornate Gothic balcony erected by the Emperor Maximilian I in the 15th century, decorated with gold painted copper shingles. Next walk to the Imperial Church followed by the 'Hofburg' or Imperial Palace. This Capital of the Alps, has a history of 800 years! Enjoy your dinner after checking in at the hotel. Overnight in Innsbruck. Breakfast and Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 - Padova

Today, your journey takes you on a drive past quaint villages, medieval castles and fruit orchards and cutting across the fertile Adriatic Plains, to the magical lagoon city of Venice. Nothing prepares you for the captivating city of canals and palaces - Venice is simply unique! Built on 117 small islands, it is a pedestrian's city, so get set for a walking tour. Cruise from Tronchetto Pier and glide romantically past fairytale palaces, through incredible miniature canals to the Piazza San Marco (St. Marks Square), where you disembark. Napoleon dubbed the Square the 'finest drawing room in Europe' for its constant carnival atmosphere! Witness the bronze Moors striking the hour, as they have been doing for the past 500 years! From there to the Doge's Palace, connected by the 'Bridge of Sighs' to its prisons. It was from here that the legendary lover Casanova made his famous escape! End this exciting tour with a brief visit to a Murano Glass Showroom (When open) for a demonstration in glass blowing. It was on the island of Murano that glass was first made in Europe and hand blown Venetian glass is world famous. Later check-in to the hotel. Overnight in Padova. Breakfast at the hotel and Dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 4 - Arezzo

Drive across the Apennine Mountains, along the Brenta River past Bologna, to Pisa - the hometown of Galileo and a city, which makes the most of its claim to fame from its Leaning Tower! It has leaned almost since construction first started, due to the swampy soil beneath it. At a photo stop here, note its striking beauty along with its characteristic tilt. It is the Duomo's (Cathedral), Bell Tower together with the Baptistery, these are all a part of the Field of Miracles. Continue to Florence, to the magical Piazzale Michelangelo for a view of the city. After an exciting tour, drive through a stretch of olive groves and vineyards to the Tuscany region where on arrival you will be checked in to your hotel. Overnight in Arezzo. Breakfast at the hotel and Indian dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 - Arezzo

Today, after breakfast we will drive towards Rome. 'Rome was not built in a day'- the truth of this oft quoted adage hits you with full force, as we pack in all the 'must see' agenda into our guided panoramic city tour ! According to legend, Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus in 753 BC. Start your introduction to Rome with a journey to The Vatican, the smallest nation in the world! It boasts a priceless art collection and is probably per square foot the richest country in the world! Visit one of the largest churches in the world St. Peter's Basilica with St. Peter's Square. Gaze in awe at Michelangelo's Pieta. Continue your tour driving past the triumphal Arch of Constantine, one of the most important commemorative monuments of antiquity and then drive through Piazza Venezia, where the grandiose monument to the reunification of Italy is often referred to as the Marble wedding cake! Pass the Circus Maximus - the Hippodrome - known for its ancient chariot races, which was reconstructed by Hollywood for the well known movie 'Ben Hur'! Later, drive back to your hotel. Note: Due to Rome city regulations, certain roads may be off limits for long distance coaches. This may result in the Rome sightseeing being done partly by foot public transport. Overnight in Arezzo. Breakfast at the hotel and Indian dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 - Chamonix

After breakfast, enjoy a comfortable drive to the scenic splendour of Chamonix Mont Blanc. It's 'Love at first sight' as you enter the beautiful Chamonix Valley and the majestic mountains of the Mont Blanc range. Whilst all the Hindi movies have launched the Swiss Alps, Cox & Kings is the first to introduce the French Alps to India and the home of Mont Blanc, famous for its pens and accessories. Carry on your drive to Chamonix Mont Blanc region and check-in. Overnight in Chamonix. Breakfast at the hotel and Dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 7 - Chamonix

Today, enjoy our excursion tour - a ride on the highest and most impressive cable car, the Aiguille du Midi, lifts you to 3842 meters for an unforgettable view of the Alps. The more fearless will take A STEP INTO THE VOID, onto a 2.50 m glass cage out over a 1000 m precipice. A product of modern architectural and technical prowess and a sensation packed experience. The Aiguille du Midi has its own postage stamp and a letterbox! Continue your excursion with a ride on the nostalgic red cog railway to Montenvers. The train climbs a steep track, through scenic alpine scenery, to a stunning vantage point above the 'Mer de Glace' (sea of ice) Glacier. You know you've really arrived when you stand at 1913 meters, at the 'Mer de Glace', which is 7 kms long and 200 meters thick, with a surface dimension of 40 kms! A crystal gallery, a wildlife exhibition, an ice garden and the famous ice grotto 100 meters long, carved each year into the heart of the glacier, awaits you! After dinner, return to the hotel. Overnight in Chamonix. Breakfast at the hotel and Dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Day 8 - Chamonix
