Day 1 - Ooty

Welcome to your 'Best of South India' tour! On arrival at the airport / railway station in Bengaluru, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Ooty.

Later in the evening, enjoy a boat ride on Ooty Lake. An artificial lake built in 1825 by John Sullivan, Ooty Lake is one of the most popular tourist attractions. Its scenic beauty captivates everyone. Walking around the lake on a well laid footpath and boating are also quite popular here.

Day 2 - Ooty

This morning, proceed for a half day city tour of Ooty. Visit Ooty Botanical Gardens and Doddabetta Peak. The Government Botanical Garden, Udhagamandalm was established in 1848. These gardens have around a thousand species, both exotic and indigenous, of plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants. These gardens consist of several lawns with flowering plants, ponds with lilies, beds of flowers and ferns laid out in an Italian style, several plots of flowering plants and a variety of medicinal plants.The present Botanical Gardens are divided into 6 sections namely Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace and Nurseries.

Doddabetta is the highest peak in the Nilgiris and is a wonderful trekking spot if you are an avid trekker.The most common trees you find here are the rhododendron. These trees are proved to have medicinal values and wine made out of the bark of these trees is a wonderful drink. Later, visit the Deer Park and Kalhatti Waterfalls. It is located about 1 km away from the Ooty Lake. Along with deer such as sambar and the chital, this park hosts a variety of flora and fauna, especially avian fauna. Located about 15 kilometers from Ooty, the Kalhatti Waterfalls can be reached after a two mile trek from the Kalahatti village. It is fabled that Saint Agastya used to live here. Along with a variety of flora and fauna, it is also ideal for bird watching.

Day 3 - Mysore

Today, proceed to Mysore via Coonoor. En route, visit Tea Gardens, Dolphin Nose, Lambs Rock and Sim\'s Park which is spread over an area of 12 hectares and is situated in upper Coonoor.

Sim\'s Park is an important tourist place to visit in Coonoor, at a height of 1780 meters above mean sea level.This is an unusual park-cum-botanical garden that was developed around the natural contours of the land more than a hundred years ago by Mr. J.D. Sims and Major Murray in the year of 1874.

Dolphin\'s Nose viewpoint is a tourist spot in Coonoor.The tip of the peak resembles a dolphin\'s nose, hence the name Dolphin\'s Nose. It is an enormous rock formation that is entirely unique. Best part of the spot are the hairpin turns and tea plantations on the way.

Lamb\'s rock is a viewpoint named after the collector Captain Lamb. The viewpoint was made accessible by the effort and interest of Captain Lamb. The rock drops down several hundred feet to simply vanish into the thick jungle below. The plains of Coimbatore and surrounding valleys offer magnificent views from this place.

The rest of the day is at leisure or one can opt to enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful hill station.

Day 4 - Mysore

This morning, proceed to visit Chamundi Temple and Mysore Palace.

Chamundi Hill is about 13 kms from Mysore, which is a prominent city in Karnataka State, India. Chamundi Hills is famous not only in India but also abroad. Atop of the hill is the famous Sri Chamundeswari Temple. \'Chamundi\' or \'Durga\' is the fierce form of \'Shakti\'. In the later days, the hill came to be known as \'Chamundi Hills\' in honour of the Goddess Chamundi, the chief subject of the \'Devi Mahathme\'. The Goddess is believed to be an incarnation of Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva.

The Palace of Mysore is a historical palace in the city of Mysore in Karnataka, Southern India. Mysore is commonly described as the City of Palaces. Mysore Palace refers specifically to the one within the Old Fort. Built by the Maharaja Rajarshi His Highness Krishnarajendra Wadiyar IV, Mysore Palace is now one of the most famous tourist attractions in India,The architectural style of domes of the palace is commonly described as Indo-Saracenic and blends Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles. It is a three-story stone structure with marble domes and a 145 ft five-story tower. The palace is surrounded by a large garden. The entrance gate and arch hold the emblem and coat of arms of the kingdom of Mysore, around which is written the kingdom\'s motto in Sanskrit.

In the evening, visit Vrindavan Gardens. This is a garden located in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka.The main attraction of the park is the musical fountain in which bursts of water are synchronised to the music of songs.The garden is laid out in 3 terraces which contain water fountains, Ficus trees, foliage plants such as Duranta plumaria and Euphorbia and flowering plants like Celosia, Marigold and bougainvillea.

Day 5 - Coorg

Today, your picturesque journey continues through the Palani Hills to another scenic hill station, Coorg. On arrival, check-in to your hotel.

Later, visit Dubare Elephant camp, a project undertaken by forest department and Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd. This camp has plenty of elephants which are trained under naturalists. A trained naturalist is at hand to explain the various aspects of elephant history, ecology and biology.The elephants for the famous Mysore Dasara were trained at Dubare elephant camp. The elephants in the Dubare Camp are used to provide the tourists with \'an intimate experience with elephants\'.

The Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery (or Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargye Ling) is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. Located in Bylakuppe, part of the Mysuru district of the state of Karnataka, the monastery\'s full name is Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargyeling, called \"Namdrolling or Namdroling\" for short. vThe rest of the evening is at leisure.

Day 6 - Coorg

Today, Visit Nisargadhama Falls which has the kind of beauty that never fades away. It provides a calm and relaxing feel to every tourist. The falls is located at Nisargadhama Island, a serene and peaceful island formed by the river Cauvery in the State of Karnataka. Karnataka is dominated by the Western Ghats which is a source of many rivers flowing through the State. Nisargadhama is located near Kushalnagar in the Kogadu district of Karnataka. It is well known for its natural charm and peaceful surroundings.

Abbey Falls is at a distance of about 25 kms from the Nisargadhama Falls. It is famous for the leeches found in the water. It is perfectly located between coffee and cardamom plantations that give a fresh aroma to the area. It is considered to be one of the best waterfalls with white foamy water flowing in the serene location.

In the evening, visit Raja\'s Seat or the Seat of the King, a famous sunset point in Madikeri in the Coorg district of Karnataka. It was once the platform from which the kings of Kodagu used to enjoy glorious sunsets. The spot got its name as it was the favourite recreational place for the kings. Raja\'s Seat is situated within the town of Madikeri. The place is easily accessible from any part of the town. The best time to visit Raja\'s Seat is during the early morning and evening hours. The early morning hour offers a splendid view of the sun rising from behind the mist laden mountains. The golden rays of the setting sun offer a wonderful sight to watch in the evenings

This morning, proceed on an excursion to visit one of the best-preserved Hoysala Chennakesava Temple at Somnathpur.The Chennakesava Temple is unique in its style and presentation, and is devoted to Prasanna Chennakeshava. The temple was constructed in the 12th-13th centuries by the Hoysala rulers and their officials. It is lavishly adorned with sculpture. The sculptures probably cover each and every inch of the wall space. This particular style of intensely packed sculptural scheme is the characteristic exclusive to the Hoysala art.

In the afternoon, visit the famous Mysore Palace- one of the major attractions of Mysore. Built in the Indo-Saracenic style, the Palace is an abode of exquisite carvings and precious paintings from all over the world. Mysore Palace was the authorized residence and seat of the Maharajas of Mysore who ruled the region between the 14th and the 20th century. The Palace houses a number of hidden tunnels leading from the cellar to other palaces and confidential areas in Srirangapatna. The Mysore palace is a three-stone structure with marble domes. Its entrance displays the emblem and coat of arms of the Mysore Kingdom.

Today, proceed on one of the most beautiful drives through the mountains of the Western Ghats, witnessing the evergreen deciduous vegetation to Coorg.

Day 4 - Coorg

After breakfast, proceed on a sightseeing tour of Coorg visiting places like the Omkareshwara Temple, Madikeri Fort and Abbey Falls.

A Shaiva theology inspired temple, the Omkareshwara temple was built in the most unique architectural combinations. The temple has been built in a rare mix of Gothic and Islamic forms of architecture. It has a pond which has been used for centuries for prayer and offerings to God. The temple is symbolic of a repentant king and his true devotion to the Lord.

A famous landmark in the city of Coorg, the Madikeri Fort is one of the relics of the glorious past of Karnataka. The fort holds remnants of history. The Fort was built in the late 16th century and was raised and rebuilt in the 17th century. The most salient feature of the fort is that there are two masonry elephants installed outside the front gate of the fort. The fort is a great vantage point to see the entire city of Coorg from atop.

Later, visit Abbey Falls - located between the coffee plantations that is spread through acres of land. The view of the cascading water from the high mountain cliffs in the Abbey falls is truly astounding. The water here falls from a great height. The origin of the waterfalls here seems to be from the Kaveri River. The Abbey falls is a very pleasant location for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts.

After breakfast, proceed to Bengaluru, en-route visit Lalbagh Botanical Gardens and ISKCON Temple.

Spread over an area of 240 acres of land, Lalbagh is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the city. The main attraction here is the glass house that maintains striking similarity to its English counterpart, the Crystal Palace. A Lecture Hall, Lalbagh House and a Pigeon House have also been installed here. A statue of Kempegowda Woodeyar and Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar has been placed here too.

Sri Radha Krishna Temple (ISKCON temple), is one of the largest ISKCON temples in the world. The construction of the temple n took 7 years to be completed. The main shikharas of the temple is at least 50 feet high and is entirely made of white stone. The carvings on the main entrance of the temple and on the conical structures above the main entrance are intricately done. The temple is a vision in white at night.
