Day 1 - Dublin

Check into your hotel. At 3 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for an afternoon orientation drive through statue-lined O'Connell Street and elegant Georgian squares to St. Patrick\'s Cathedral and Trinity College. End the day with an optional dinner evening at the Guinness Storehouse.

Day 2 - Belfast

On your northbound route today, pass Drogheda, scene of the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, then through the fertile landscape of the Boyne Valley, known for its prehistoric passage graves. Cross the border into Northern Ireland and drive past the Mountains of Mourne to Downpatrick, the burial place of Patrick, Ireland’s Patron Saint, and on to the vibrant city of Belfast, where the Titanic was built. Later, why not join a Local Guide on a “living history” tour, including a visit to the fascinating Titanic Experience? (B)

Day 3 - Sligo

First stop this morning is awe-inspiring GIANT’S CAUSEWAY, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, let the province’s story unfold as you head for the city of Derry before returning to the Republic to visit Donegal, the ancient town founded by Danish Vikings and home of the O’Donnell Clan. Drive along Donegal Bay with its small fishing ports and hidden beaches, and stop in Drumcliff to see the grave of W.B. Yeats before arriving in Sligo, tonight’s destination. (B,D)

Day 4 - Limerick

Travel farther south to Galway, a popular seaside destination and a buzzing cosmopolitan center with colorful shops, and a busy cafe and bar culture. Cross the limestone plateau of The Burren to visit the spectacular 668-foot CLIFFS OF MOHER. Tonight, you might like to join an optional medieval banquet. (B)

Day 5 - Killarney

Start your day with a stroll through Adare, a village known for its prize-winning thatched cottages. Then, take in the breathtaking scenery of the Dingle Peninsula, where the 32-mile Slea Head drive affords magnificent vistas of the Atlantic Ocean. See the Blasket Islands, and hear about the way of life and unique literary achievements of its inhabitants prior to their evacuation in 1953. The next two nights are spent in the popular resort of Killarney. (B,D)

Day 6 - Killarney

At Killorglin, join the RING OF KERRY for a 100-mile coastal panoramic drive featuring sparkling seascapes, mountains dotted with brightly colored farmhouses, winding lanes bordered with subtropical vegetation, and spectacular views of the Lakes of Killarney from Ladies View. Back in Killarney, a special optional adventure: take a horse-drawn jaunting car along the national park lakeshore for pictures of Ross Castle. Tonight, enjoy the optional outing to Tralee for dinner and a performance at Siamsa Tire, Ireland's National Folk Theatre. (B)

Day 7 - Tramore

More scenic splendor as you head over the Kerry Mountains into County Cork. Stop in Blarney, famous for its Stone of Eloquence, with time at your leisure to see the castle and shop for Irish crafts and handmade crystal. After lunch, drive past Cork, the country's second-largest city on the way to Waterford, where a guided tour of the HOUSE OF WATERFORD CRYSTAL is included. Spend the night at the nearby seaside resort of Tramore. Later, an optional pub tour might be fun. (B,D)

Day 8 - Dublin

On the last leg of your journey, visit Ireland's oldest HANDWEAVING MILL at Avoca, and enjoy views of the Wicklow Mountains on your way to Dublin. An optional Irish cabaret evening, including dinner, dance, song, and laughter would be an exciting finale to your vacation. (B)

Day 9 - Dublin

On arrival in Dublin transfer on your own to the hotel. (Note: We can book transfers at an additional cost). This afternoon meet your guide at your Dublin hotel and set out on a tour of Dublin. See fashionable shopping areas around Grafton and Nassau Streets, view Dublin's elegant Georgian squares and drive along the wide O'Connell Street. Visit Glasnevin Museum, Ireland's national necropolis, which is a who's who of modern Irish history and a fascinating insight into life in Ireland. Back at your hotel meet with your tour guide and travel companions for a welcome drink.

Day 2 - Waterford

Transfer from Dublin to Waterford enroute enjoy a city tour of Waterford (Seat in Coach).

Today drive through the Irish countryside to the compact city of Kilkenny. Visit Kilkenny Castle, which was the principal residence of the powerful Butler family for almost 600 years. It has been remodelled over the centuries and now houses an excellent collections of portraits and artifacts. Continue south to the famous House of Waterford Crystal to watch molten glass being transformed into elaborate and shimmering trophies by the skilled blowers and cutters. View a huge array of stemware in the showrooms and you may purchase pieces also. Check in to your hotel in the center of Waterford and, after dinner, take a gentle walking tour with a local guide to learn about the region's history.

Day 3 - Killarney

Transfer from Waterford to Killarney enroute visit the Blarney Castle (Seat in Coach).

Travel along the south coast to Cobh to visit the Titanic Experience. Learn about the 123 Irish passengers who embarked on the ill-fated RMS Titanic bound for New York. Visit Blarney Castle to kiss the famous "Stone of Eloquence." If you do not wish to climb to the top of the castle, take a walk through the lovely grounds with magnificent trees and colorful borders. Shop at the Blarney Woollen Mills for quality Irish-made souvenirs. Drive into County Kerry to Killarney, a small town that's big on glorious scenery. Check in to your hotel in the center, close to the many shops and pubs. After dinner you may like to sample some of the lively pubs.

Day 4 - Killarney

Enjoy a tour of Killarney National Park to Ross Castle (Seat in Coach).

Start your day with a leisurely jaunting car ride through the Killarney National Park to Ross Castle for wonderful views of Lough Leane and the Macgillycuddy's Reeks Mountains. Then set out on the famous Ring of Kerry scenic route. The road winds between mountains on one side and the Atlantic coastline on the other. Take the bridge to Valentia Island to visit the Skellig Experience. Here learn about the rocky island of Skellig Michael where monks lived under austere conditions in early Christian times. Stop in the attractive village of Sneem and at Moll's Gap for panoramic mountain views. In the evening head to an Irish Night for dinner with a fun traditional show.

Day 5 - Galway

Transfer from Killarney to Galway enroute visit take a walking tour of Galway (Seat in Coach).

Today drive north through Listowel to Tarbert for a 20 minutes ferry ride across the wide River Shannon Estuary. Continue your journey north to view the Cliffs of Moher, a spectacular wall of sandstone that reaches to almost 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Walk along the top of the cliffs to O'Brien's Tower for views across Galway Bay of Connemara. Motor through the Burren and around the shores of Galway Bay to Galway city. Take a short walking tour around the city center with a local guide to see the medieval city walls, Lynch's Castle and Eyre Square before check-in to your hotel.

Day 6 - Galway

Embark on a Scenic Cruise on Lough Corrib and explore Scenic Connemara (Seat in Coach).

Today embark on the Corrib Princess for a scenic cruise on Lough Corrib (Mar 28 - Oct 21 departures) and watch demonstrations of Irish coffee-making and step dancing. Then explore scenic Connemara to admire how constantly-changing cloud formations give granite hills, sparkling lakes and peat bogs. Head to a traditional pub for a casual lunch. Stop at Standun of Spiddal for an Irish coffee and a talk on various aspects of Irish life and traditional crafts before returning to Galway where the evening is free.

Day 7 - Dublin

Transfer from Galway to Dublin, enroute Visit the Kilbeggan Distillery Experience (Seat in Coach).

This morning enjoy a late departure from Galway. Drive to the center of the country to Kilbeggan to visit the Kilbeggan Distillery Experience, established in 1757, making it the world's oldest. See how whiskey is distilled on modern equipment in the old buildings and enjoy a sample of the finished product. Drive to the fishing village of Howth on the north side of the city to finish up your tour at the popular Abbey Tavern with a hearty dinner and a lively show of traditional music, songs and step-dancing.
