Your journey through Western Canada begins with an afternoon departure from the sights and sounds of downtown Vancouver. The first leg of travel takes us from cityscape, through the lush Fraser Delta Region and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains, before entering the Fraser River Canyon. We follow the Fraser River until the town of Hope for a short rest and spectacular views. Movie fans may recognize Hope as the setting for the classic adventure movie “First Blood”. After Hope we continue upwards to the sub alpine region via the Coquihalla Highway. Along this route, we will see the landscape change dramatically as we gain altitude. We will move from lush coastal forest, to sub alpine, to Canadian desert enroute to your destination at the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel, in downtown Kamloops. Here you will have free time explore the quaint downtown scene and choose your dinner (not included) amongst the many restaurants nearby.

Day 6 - Kamloops,Banff

Tour transfer from Kamloops to Banff

Departing Kamloops after breakfast (included) we follow the Coquihalla Highway which winds its way into the through the Cascade Mountains. A lunch stop (included) is made in the town of Revelstoke, founded in 1880 when the CP Railroad was built through the area. This section of the tour takes us through the Canadian Rockies and is full of short stops, stunning views and mountains all around. You will see Roger’s Pass, one of the highest point on the highway, and one of the biggest challenges for the Canadian Pacific Railway during their construction era. We’ll follow the rail line for the rest of our journey making stops at historic places. As you enter Banff National Park, we will visit Lake Louise, one of Canada’s most recognized features. Walk to the lakeshore, see the turquoise water, and take in the sights that drew early mountaineers here. Your journey can either end in Lake Louise or Banff.  We expect to arrive in Banff around 7:00pm local time where you will have plenty of time to plan your evening and further adventures.

Start the day with hotel pickup in Banff, and proceed on a short drive up to the park’s famous Bow Valley Parkway, a scenic route that is often frequented by local wildlife like elk, deer and more than 200 species of birds. Along the Parkway, stop at beautiful Johnston Canyon for a nature walk next to a stream that takes you toward a series of waterfalls. Back on the coach, you’ll continue to Lake Louise, an emerald-coloured lake tucked between a series of mountain peaks below Victoria Glacier. Stop for a quick lunch at the lake before heading up toward the glacier, and then take a look inside the historic Fairmont Chateau hotel, situated at the edge of Lake Louise. Before leaving this area, you’ll also visit nearby Moraine Lake, another amazing alpine sight, as well as the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Moving on, head over the Great Divide and into Yoho National Park, via the picturesque Kicking Horse Pass, for a stop at the Spiral Tunnels. Then finish your sightseeing at magnificent Takkakaw Falls before heading back to Banff in the late afternoon.

Your journey through Western Canada begins with an afternoon departure from the sights and sounds of downtown Vancouver. The first leg of travel takes us from cityscape, through the lush Fraser Delta Region and the towering peaks of the Coastal Mountains, before entering the Fraser River Canyon. We follow the Fraser River until the town of Hope for a short rest and spectacular views. Movie fans may recognize Hope as the setting for the classic adventure movie “First Blood”. After Hope we continue upwards to the sub alpine region via the Coquihalla Highway. Along this route, we will see the landscape change dramatically as we gain altitude. We will move from lush coastal forest, to sub alpine, to Canadian desert enroute to your destination at the historic, train-era, Plaza Hotel, in downtown Kamloops. Here you will have free time explore the quaint downtown scene and choose your dinner (not included) amongst the many restaurants nearby.

Departing Kamloops after breakfast (included) we follow the Coquihalla Highway which winds its way into the through the Cascade Mountains. A lunch stop (included) is made in the town of Revelstoke, founded in 1880 when the CP Railroad was built through the area. This section of the tour takes us through the Canadian Rockies and is full of short stops, stunning views and mountains all around. You will see Roger’s Pass, one of the highest point on the highway, and one of the biggest challenges for the Canadian Pacific Railway during their construction era. We’ll follow the rail line for the rest of our journey making stops at historic places. As you enter Banff National Park, we will visit Lake Louise, one of Canada’s most recognized features. Walk to the lakeshore, see the turquoise water, and take in the sights that drew early mountaineers here. Your journey can either end in Lake Louise or Banff.  We expect to arrive in Banff around 7:00pm local time where you will have plenty of time to plan your evening and further adventures.

Moving on, head over the Great Divide and into Yoho National Park, via the picturesque Kicking Horse Pass, for a stop at the Spiral Tunnels.
