Day 1 - Skopje

Welcome to Macedonia! Macedonia is a landlocked Balkan nation of mountains, lakes and ancient towns with Ottoman and European architecture. The capital, Skopje, is known for its sprawling Old Bazaar quarter and historic buildings turned museums, including the National Gallery of Macedonia, housed in a 15th-century Turkish bath complex. The southern city Ohrid, on a lake of the same name, has a medieval townscape and hilltop castle. Arrive into Skopje Airport and you will be transferred to your hotel by private vehicle. Evening is free to relax in the comfort and luxury of your room. Overnight in Skopje

Day 2 - Skopje

Breakfast at the hotel Today enjoy \"HALF - DAY TOUR FROM SKOPJE; MILLENNIUM CROSS AND MATKA CANYON\" Start your tour from Fortress Kale. Our guide will take you, by private transport, to the middle of mount Vodno and then by cable-car system to the Millennium Cross and back to middle Vodno. Once back at middle Vodno you continue to the village Gorno Nerezi, to see the church St. Pantelejmon. Then, travel to Matka canyon, about 17 km from Skopje. After the visit of canyon Matka, transfer back to Skopje at drop-off point, Gate Macedonia. Overnight in Skopje

After the visit of Heraclea, driving by the City Park, your driver/guide will transfer you to the City Museum from where you will enjoy a walking tour through Shirok Sokak, among the nice colourful romantic and neoclassical buildings, housing cafes and restaurants, with a time to taste some local bites or just relax with a coffee and people watching! The tour further continues through the sites, to the Old Bazaar, finishing at the Green Market, where you won\'t miss the chance to buy a \'pepper necklace\' or some of the fresh, organic, season\'s products! Day 4 - Skopje

Day 5 - Skopje

Breakfast at the hotel The day is free at leisure to explore the city on your own OR enjoy optional tour of \"MAVROVO DAY TRIP FROM SKOPJE (7HRS)\" Morning departure to Mavrovo. After your arrival, you will get a brief with information about Mavrovo and its National Park. Here you will visit the cave Sharko, an underground beauty which has beautiful stalactite, stalagmite and corals and other cave ornaments that create a picture of an untouched beauty. Visitors can go down inside the cave by a metal semicircular ladder that leads into the first pit which are approximately 20 meters underground. After that you will visit the village of Galicnik where Galicka svadba (wedding) take place. After visiting Galicnik we drive along Mavrovo lake and canyon of the river Radika to the biggest monastery in Macedonia: Bigorski monastery with its wood carved iconostasis from 18th century. Next comes a natural place called Waterwall Duff. Your tour continues with the visit of the wonderful monastery Rajcica. After that, enjoy a traditional lunch in Mavrovo. Here you will take a tour and see: the Kosova National Library that represents a modern architectural design, the Mother Teresa statue - born Gonxhe Bojaxhiu-, George Kastrioti Skanderbeg statue, Open Air Archeological Park with artifacts from Neolithic period, the Kosova Museum that was built by Austrians for the Turkish army in 1898 and has an extensive collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts including the Neolithic Goddesses on a Throne terracotta; arshi Mosque which is Pristina oldest building constructed on 15th century by Turkish Sultan Bajazit; the Academy Building which is a 19th century Ottoman konak style private houses; the Clock Tower, a 26 meter high built by Jashar Pasha on 1764; the Fatih Mosque or Imperial Mosque built on 1461 under the Turkish Sultan Mehmed II Fatih; The Great Hammam bath complex built in 1470 and graced with 15 domes with small holes to let light stream in. Also the ethnographic museum, Emin Gjiku complex is a extremely well preserved building from 18th Century and it\'s a the only original building left in old bazaar area. The tour finishes with the visit of Gazimestan Tower. You continue to Prizren. You will, first, be taken for a drive of about an hour to one of the best known and preserved archeological sites, Stobi. After the visit of Stobi, you continue by car/van for about half an hour driving to a winery at Demir Kapija. During the few hours stay at the winery, an experienced oenologist will take you on a tour through the process of wine making, you will be able to see the wine cellars and if it is the \"right\" time of the year, even take part in grape harvesting. You then take time to simply relax and enjoy the authentic wines and tasty, fresh, organic food from the region.
