Welcome to Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat and begin your 'Dwarka Somnath' tour. Day 2 - Dwarka

In the morning, proceed for a full day sightseeing tour of Dwarka. Visit the Nageshwar Temple. Nageshwara Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Visit the Dwarkadhish temple also known as Jagat Mandir. This temple was constructed over 1400 years ago and houses the image of Lord Krishna. Followed by the Dwarkadhish temple, visit Dwarka Peeth. After breakfast, proceed to Somnath. En route visit the Somnath Temple - one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Facing the wide open Arabian Sea, the Somnath Temple is an imposing structure offering a spectacular sight to the pilgrims. Legend says that Somnath was built by none other than the Moon God himself at the time of creation. The temple was destroyed and rebuilt six times. Later, check-in to your hotel. Day 1 - Ahmedabad

Welcome to your 'Glimpse of Gujarat' tour. On arrival at the airport / railway station in Ahmedabad, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Later, proceed on a half day city tour of Ahmedabad. Visit the Gandhi Ashram, Jumma Masjid, Teen Darwaja, Hutheesingh Jain Temple and Adalaj Stepwell.

Gandhi Ashram : This ashram is located in the Sabarmati suburb of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, adjoining the Ashram Road. On a quiet peaceful stretch of the Sabarmati river, Mahatma Gandhi set up a simple retreat in 1915. This was his Satyagrah Ashram and for many years it was the nerve centre of India's freedom movement. It was from his base here, that Mahatma began his famous Dandi March to protest against the Salt Tax imposed by the British in 1930. Hridaya Kunj, the simple cottage where he lived, is now a national monument and preserved as it was during the Mahatma's life-time.

Jumma Masjid : The Friday mosque was built by the city's founder, Sultan Ahmed Shah, in 1423. Built of yellow sandstone in an architectural style that combines the best of Muslim and Hindu traditions. It stands on 260 pillars that support 15 domes at varying elevations.

Teen Darwaja : The triple-arched gateway was built by Sultan Ahmed Shah to serve as the royal entrance to the Maidan Shahi or the Royal Square. It is in an imposing monument of perfect proportions and highly ornate buttresses.

Hutheesingh Jain Temple : Built outside the Delhi Gate in 1850 by a rich Jain merchant, the Hutheesing Temple is the best known of Ahmedabad\'s many ornate Jain temples.

Adalaj Stepwell : It is situated 17kms north of Ahmedabad. The stepwell at the village of Adalaj is another fine example of this magnificent architectural form. Adalaj Vav is richly carved, every pillar and wall surface covered with leaves and flowers, birds and fishes and friezes of ornamental designs.

Day 2 - Dwarka

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Jamnagar and visit the Bala Hanuman Temple and Lakota. Later, continue your drive to Dwarka. On arrival, check-in to the hotel.

Day 3 - Dwarka

After breakfast, visit Dwarkadhish Temple. Take a holy dip in the Gomti river. Later, visit Nageshwar Jyotirling, Gopi Talav, Bet Dwarka. On your way back, visit Rukmini Devi Temple.

Dwarkadhish Temple - Situated on the northern banks of the Gomti River, the Dwarkadhish Temple, also known as Jagat Mandir (universal shrine), is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here by the name Dwarkadhish. According to tradition, the original temple is believed to have been built more than 2500 years ago by Vajranabh, the great grandson of Lord Krishna, over the hari-griha (Lord Krishna's residential abode).

Nageshwar Jyotirling - Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Nageshwar Jyothirlinga Temple is located on the route between Dwarka city and Beyt Dwarka Island on the coast of Saurashtra. It is enshrined by one of the 12 jyothirlingas in an underground sanctum. Gopi Talav - 20 Kms North West of Dwarka there is a Holy place called Gopi Talav. This village as you see in the photos is very colourful , lively and each house here is a Mandir related to Krishna\'s life.

Bet Dwarka - Dwarka is an island surrounded by sea from all sides. Boat service is available between Okha and Bet-Dwarka. Okha Jetty is 30 KM from Dwarka , reach here by road and then take 15 minutes lunch journey by sea to reach Bet Dwarka.

Rukmini Devi Temple - Rukmini Temple is dedicated to Devi Rukmani, the wife of Lord Krishna, who had over 16,000 wives and Devi Rukmani was his favourite. The temple walls feature a variety of paintings from the 12th century, which showcase the time spent by Devi Rukmani and Lord Krishna. A marble deity of Devi Rukmani, with four hands or ;Chaturbhuja; is placed in the temple. These hands clasp Shanka, Chakra, Gada and Padma, symbolizing her as the reincarnation of Goddess Maha Lakshmi.

In the evening, visit the other temples on the coastal area. Later, proceed to attend evening aarti at Dwarkadhish Temple.

Day 4 - Somnath

Today morning after breakfast, proceed to Porbandar. Visit Kirti Mandir, the place where Gandhiji was born and Sudama Temple, dedicated to Krishna and Sudama, on whose legendary friendship much has been written.

Later, proceed to Somnath. En route, you can enjoy largest Costal high Way of Madhavpur. On arrival, check-in to the hotel.

Later, visit Bhalka Tirth, Triveni Ghat and Somnath Temple. In the evening attend Aarti and later watch Light and Sound show.

Built in 1026 AD by King Bhimdev of the Solanki dynasty, the relics at the sun temple is dedicated to the natural elements fire, air, earth, water and sky alongside the sculptures of many gods.

En route visit Patan famous for Jain temples,one of the most important being the Mahavir Swami Derasar in Dhandherwad. Also visit the Rani ki Vav (the Queen's Stepwell), an excellent example of subterranean architecture of Gujarat.

Day 3 - Gondal

This morning, proceed to Gondal- one of the remaining few towns that hold the real cultural heritage of the Rajput kings and early rulers in Gujarat.

On arrival, check in to your hotel.

Later, proceed on a city tour of Gondal visiting places like the Orchard Palace Retreat, the Virpur Jalaram Bapa Temple, Naulakha Palace, the Royal Palace the Veri Lake.

The Orchard Palace was built as an annex of the Huzoor Palace, the family residence, in the late-19th century to host personal guests of the Maharajas.

Shri Jalaram Bapa was a Hindu Saint from Gujarat. The shrine is actually the house complex where the saint lived during his life time.

The Naulakha Palace Museum is housed inside a 260 year palace. The museum houses artefacts used by Maharaja Bhagwat Sinhji which includes silver caskets that carried messages and gifts for the king. It is open only for those who stay at the Orchard Palace or Riverside Palace in Gondal.

Veri Lake, one of the prominent lakes in Gondal, is an ideal place for watching birds like pelican, flamingo, spoonbill, crane and black, glossy and white ibis.

Day 4 - Somnath

Post breakfast, proceed to Somnath located on the extreme southwest coast of Gujarat. En route visit the Somnath Temple. Somnath Temple is an age-old temple enshrining the sacred Shivlinga, one of the 12 Shiva Jyotirlingas. According to legend, this shore temple is believed to have been originally built in gold by the moon god Soma, in silver by the sun god Ravi, in wood by Krishna and in stone by the Solanki Rajputs in the 11th century.

Day 5 - Dwarka

This morning, proceed to Dwarka,en route visit the Kirti Mandir at Porbandar.

Kirti Mandir is the ancestral home of Mahatma Gandhi. It is a memorial dedicated to the father of the nation and is located next to the three-storeyed haveli where the Mahatma was born. The place has now been converted into a small museum and contains various belongings and memorabilia related to the Mahatma, including a vast collection of pictures depicting his life.

Day 6 - Dwarka

This morning, proceed to Dwarka,en route visit the Kirti Mandir at Porbandar.

Kirti Mandir is the ancestral home of Mahatma Gandhi. It is a memorial dedicated to the father of the nation and is located next to the three-storeyed haveli where the Mahatma was born. The place has now been converted into a small museum and contains various belongings and memorabilia related to the Mahatma, including a vast collection of pictures depicting his life.
