Day 1 - Kandy

On arrival in Colombo, you will be met by our driver/guide who will assist and drive you to Kandy. En-route visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, established in 1975. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Kandy.

Day 2 - Kandy

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today enjoy sightseeing tour of Kandy. Morning visit Peradeniya botanical garden - The garden was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the British. Proceed to Nuwara Eliya famous for its mountain climate and scenery. Visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. Thereafter witness a cultural show. Overnight in Kandy.

Day 3 - Kandy,Nuwara Eliya

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today proceed to Nuwara Eliya via a Tea Plantation. On the way visit a Tea Plantation - Sri Lanka, Tea and Tourism are words which cannot be separated. Take a tour to the cold & misty hills that take pride of an ultimate tea tour, covering lush green blankets of tea plantations. Or just step into a tea factory processing the prestigious brand of Ceylon Tea, to observe a rich tradition kept alive up to date. As you observe the hissing and swishing of machines, inhaling the heavenly scent arising from these facilities, make sure to end your day in style over a perfectly blended cup of pure Ceylon Tea. Day 4 - Nuwara Eliya,Bentota

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today, travel to Bentota via Kitulgala, the location where Oscar winning film Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Bentota.

Day 1 - Colombo

Welcome to your 'Getaway Goddess - Sri Lanka' tour! On arrival at the airport in Colombo, you will be met by a Cox and Kings lady representative who will accompany you throughout your stay in Sri Lanka. With her charming smile and gentle greeting of " Ayubowan " she will start - off your much awaited holiday in Sri Lanka. You will then be escorted to the vehicle park, where a lady dressed in traditional Saree will welcome you with fragrant Araliya Garlands and wet tissue to freshen you up.
Thereafter proceed to Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Check in at the hotel of your choice and rest till late afternoon.
In the late afternoon drive to Kaleniya, and visit Kaleniya Raja Maha Viharaya .
At Kaleniya, about 10 kms to the northeast of Colombo, lays Kelani Rajamaha Viharaya, one of the most revered buddhist temples of the orient. Set in the summit of a small mound, lapped by the waters of the Kaleni River, the beautiful shrine presents a panoramic view of its surroundings. Among many buddhist temples of Sri Lanka, the Kaleni Viharaya stands out as one of the most exquisite examples of the sculptor's art. Its history runs back to more than 2500 years. In the days of yore, it always received full royal patronage, and to this day it has been highly venerated by the people of the island. Its significance as a place of Buddhist worship is clearly evedent in the islands folklore. Thereafter return to Colombo for Dinner.

Day 2 - Colombo

After breakfast carryout a Panoramic drive through city of Colombo with maximum 1 - 2 stops for photographs. Colombo is the trade capital of Sri Lanka, and is a city that has undergone rapid changes. While most old buildings have been replaced by new apartments and office buildings, some parts of the city yet retains its old charm. The 100-year-old clock tower built by the British and some colonial buildings remain examples. The Independence Square, Nelum Pokuna, Pettah Bazaar and BMICH are some of the main highlights of the city. Colombo also provides ample entertainment in terms of an active night life as well as a shopping experience you'd never forget.
Thereafter proceed to Rajagiriya to meet-up with Sri Lankan lady to take part in Cooking programme "Cooking by Colors".
Late afternoon is free for shopping. The must visit stores for shopping in Colombo includes: ODEL - departmental store,

Bare Foot for souveniors
Noritake ceramic shops
Ananthaya or Trymph for fine ladies' lingerie.
Thereafter return to hotel for short rest.
Freshen up and dress for Dinner in Saree. Today's dinner will be at " Nuga Gama ", a special Sri Lankan Restaurant at The Cinnamon Grand Hotel. Built in spacious area in the theme of a traditional Sri Lankan village, the restaurant offers varied Sri Lankan culinery delights for you to enjoy, while traditional music play at the background.

Day 3 - Colombo,Kandy

Post breakfast, leave Colombo in the morning and drive to Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka. En route visit the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage provides visitors with the best chance of seeing a large number of elephants at close quarters. The orphanage was established in 1975 and commenced with seven orphaned elephants. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their calfs born in the same location. Assisted by local and foreign elephant experts, Pinnawala commenced a successful captive breeding programme and the first baby elephant was born in 1984. It is most interesting to visit at feeding time to see the baby elephants being bottle fed and the entire herd taken for a bath thereafter to the river nearby.
Also visit paper re-cycling plant close by, to gain first-hand knowledge of recycling paper using Elephant Dung. Enjoy a short conversation with the working village girls at the plant and see how they convert the recycled paper to colorful end products such as note pads, greeting cards etc. At this point you will leave the Pachyderms, and continue drive to Kandy. On arrival, check into the hotel. Later, proceed for a city tour on reaching Kandy.
The World Heritage Site, Kandy, was the last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings, before the country was brought under British rule in 1815. Famous for its rich heritage and splendour, this magnificent city was last ruled by Sri Wickramarajasinghe. The temple of the Tooth Relic is the most significant highlight of the city along with the Kandy lake, the town and other attractions. Take part in a visit to a Gem Lapidary / Museum & its showroom followed by a walk in the Kandy Bazar. In the late evening visit the Kandy temple. Also view a cultural show, where girls and boys in vibrant costumes will perform traditional dances of Sri Lanka. Overnight in Kandy. (B , L , D)

Day 4 - Kandy,Bentota

After breakfast, drive to Peradeniya and visit the Royal Botanical Gardens. The Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya covers approximately 147 acres and attracts over 2 million visitors annually. It is home to over 4,000 species of plants including some of the most beautiful orchids you'll ever see. The origins of these magnificent gardens date back to the time of King Wickramabahu the 3rd in 1371. Besides the plethora of plants, the famous Avenue of Palms and the Cannonball Tree planted by King George the 5th of the United Kingdom are key highlights.
Thereafter drive to visit a Tea Plantation and learn the process of producing tea from picked tea leaves. Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best tea in the world is produced. Upon your visit you will observe how the quality of tea is graded and also have a walk-through of the manufacturing process. The highlight of your visit will be enjoying the taste of a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. If time permits, mingle with the Tea Pluckers and try your hand in Tea Plucking too! Thereafter return to Kandy. After checkout, drive to Bentota. On arrival, check-in to your hotel. Overnight in Bentota. (B , L , D)

Day 5 - Bentota

Enjoy breakfast and proceed to Balapitiya for a river cruise. Balapitiya is the nearest town to the Maduganga River which is famous for its mangroves and endemic flora and fauna. This little town is renowned for its Ceylon Cinnamon and fishing.
During the cruise you will visit one of the many islets of the river, where a refreshing King Coconut will clench your thirst, while the inhabitants demonstrate activities of a few cottage industries in the area.
Continue drive up to Galle for a Panoramic Drive. Galle is located in the south-western part of Sri Lanka and is an important city in the region. The city remains the best example of a fortified city built by the Portuguese during their period in the country. The Galle Fort, today, is a world heritage site and the most important landmark in the city. The Dutch Museum and the Dutch Church are two other significant attractions. Galle has also made a name for itself for its intricate lace and ebony carvings. Thereafter return to hotel. Day 6 - Bentota

Today, bid farewell to your 'Getaway Goddess - Sri Lanka' tour as you are transferred from hotel in Bentota to the airport in Colombo for your onward journey.
