Rossitta Wood Castle is a three-star hotel, located on Rose Street, at Fort Kochi (Fort Cochin, between Vasco da Gama church and the beach. Fort Kochi is the historical and heritage district of the city of Kochi (Cochin where an array of churches and streets from the by-gone eras are located. The actual Fort was built by the Portuguese and is in ruins today, but the surrounding areas gave visitors a glimpse into history of Kochi's old quarters, with its narrow lanes dotted by colonial mansions, from where exotic Indian spices and other rare artifacts once made their way to trading ships gathered here from around the world, waiting to take India's treasures to global markets. The hotel itself is a mansion that is several centuries old, established in 1706, and belonged to a European family, with trading roots in India, during pre-colonial times. This Inn has today been restored and reopened to tourists as a great option to experience the history of this fabled spice town.
